Wedding Videography - Yes Or No?

In today's tough economy a wedding video can be a luxury item, given all of the high ticket costs of planning a wedding. According to a recent poll conducted by TheKnot.com & the WeddingChannel.com, the total cost associated with an average wedding range anywhere from 18K to 25K. The costs of weddings are far higher than what an average Bride & Groom anticipates. The Venue/Reception hall takes a large chuck of the total budget, followed by the Photographer, the Dress, Florist, & DJ. The Wedding Video is the last item on the list; a luxury of sorts. The cost of videographers ranges from $1500-$10,000 depending on several factors ranging from the style, experience, and the quality of the end product.

The quality of the video can range from a professional who has very little knowledge of the craft to someone who crafts a cinematic video that you will be proud to share with family & loved ones. The quality of videos and videographers in recent years have progressed like technology around us. Videographers are now using high end digital HD Cameras to capture the essence and memories of you day. With all of the fast paced digital movement in technology, an HD video is a MUST or at least the bare minimum. New formats of Video productions are in Blu-Ray so you can watch every moment in "true" high definition. However, all of this comes at a price. One has to decide if these items are worth the extra dollar.

Another reason some some shy away is the intrusiveness of Videographers and Video. Brides & Grooms do not like to have cameras in their faces, making their day very awkward. The bright lights are blinding to family & guests during the reception. And the footage is less than desirable due to the quality of the lighting. But, today's Videographers are less intrusive. These trained professional use lighting to enhance the video, rather that distract the video. They are not in your face at every moment, but rather capture candid moments that the Bride & Groom often miss. Also, they produce documentary type productions, instead of the traditional boring video.

There are many things to consider when determining if videography or a wedding video is worth the value. But, if you look at it from a life time investment perspective, you will ultimately make the correct decision.
